Embracing WELLNESS: Transformative Insights from Ananda.ai

In my role at Ananda.ai, I’ve had the unique opportunity to interact with diverse patients, psychologists, and psychiatrists, each with their own stories and struggles. 

This year, a recurring theme emerged: the challenge of maintaining mental health in an ever-evolving, fast-paced world. These interactions opened my eyes to the commonality of our struggles and sparked a realization. 

We needed a practical, adaptable approach to mental well-being that goes beyond traditional methods. 

Considering these needs, we birthed a WELLNESS Formula – a culmination of collective insights and personal experimentation.

As 2023 comes to a close, I reflect on how this formula, rooted in simplicity yet rich in impact, has transformed my patients’ lives and mine. 

WELLNESS is more than an acronym; it’s a testament to the power of holistic health strategies in the digital age. 💪

WELLNESS Formula

W – Work-life Balance:

  • When: Daily.
  • How: Prioritize tasks and set boundaries between work and personal time.

E – Exercise Regularly:

  • When: Most days of the week.
  • How: Choose activities you enjoy – yoga, running, gym, or even a brisk walk.

L – Light and Vitamin D for SAD:

  • When: During winter months or low-light conditions.
  • How: Use light therapy lamps, spend time outdoors during daylight, and consider vitamin D supplements.

L – Limit Screen Time:

  • When: Especially in the evenings.
  • How: Set specific times to disconnect from devices and use screen-time tracking apps.

N – Nutritious Diet:

  • When: Daily.
  • How: Include fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins.

E – Emotional Support and Social Connections:

  • When: Regularly.
  • How: Stay in touch with friends and family, and join clubs or groups that interest you.

S – Sleep Adequately:

  • When: Nightly.
  • How: Establish a regular sleep schedule and create a restful environment.

S – Stress Management through Mindfulness:

  • When: Daily or as needed.
  • How: Practice mindfulness or meditation and deep breathing exercises.

Application

  • Morning: Begin with exercise (E) and a nutritious breakfast (N). Utilize light therapy if necessary (L).
  • Workday: Focus on work-life balance (W), take regular breaks, and limit screen time (L).
  • Evening: Engage in social activities or emotional support (E) and practice stress management techniques (S).
  • Night: Prepare for sleep (S), ensuring a comfortable environment and adhering to a sleep schedule.

The WELLNESS formula can be adapted based on individual needs and circumstances. 

It’s a flexible approach that emphasizes the most crucial aspects of maintaining mental health for millennials, particularly in the context of their unique challenges.

As I share these words, it’s not just the story of formula but the journey of rediscovery and balance. The WELLNESS Formula became more than a guideline; it transformed into a lifestyle. 🔄

By embracing Work-life balance, Exercise, Light therapy, Limiting screen time, Nutritious diet, Emotional support, Sleep, and Stress management, I found a harmony that was amiss.

The year 2023 taught me that well-being is a symphony of small, consistent practices. It’s about finding joy in exercise, peace in a well-balanced meal, solace in the warmth of loved ones, and rest in the tranquility of the night. As we enter another year, I hope to carry these lessons forward, not just as resolutions but as a blueprint for a well-lived life.
